ANALYSIS
UNDP adopt a three-levelled assessment framework to evaluate companies’ climate commitments
Climate Aware Companies
We use a reasonably simple screening questionnaire to engage more companies, especially Vietnamese SMEs, in this initiative. A company which successfully passes this questionnaire is generally aware of the NDC context, has initiatives or investments related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, and report on the climate impact of their business in an aggregated fashion.
Climate Action-takers
Our questionnaire guides companies in upgrading to Level 2 by reporting in more details with supporting evidence. An Action-taker should be well aware of the climate vulnerabilities of its local region, its exposure to climate-related ricks, and it potential to mitigate Green House Gas emissions. It also has strategic planning for low-carbon transition and report its climate impact in some quantitative terms.
Climate Leaders
In addition to meeting the requirements for Level 2 , we encourage the most ambitious companies to showcase their climate leadership by collaborating with other stakeholders, sharing lessons and best practices, and participating in Research and Development of climate-friendly technologies.
